Mast-o-khiar is Farsi for “yogurt and cucumbers.” This cucumber yogurt dish from Iran compliments Persian breads, rices, kabobs, and other dishes.

2 cups plain Greek yogurt or other strained yogurt
2 Persian or regular cucumbers, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon dried crushed mint
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
1 teaspoon black pepper (optional)
1 teaspoon salt (optional)
1. Mix together yogurt, cucumbers, mint, walnuts, salt, and pepper.
2. Serve with any Persian meal.
